中华慈善总会成立于 1994 年，是经中国政府批准依法注册登记，由热心慈善事业的公民、法人及其他社会组织志愿参加的全国性非营利公益社会团体，目前在全国拥有 260 多个会员单位。我们的宗旨是：发扬人道主义精神，弘扬中华民族扶贫济困的传统美德，帮助社会上不幸的个人和困难群体，开展多种形式的社会救助工作。中华慈善总会现任会长为全国政协常委、原民政部党组副书记、副部长范宝俊先生。

　　中华慈善总会自成立至今，始终坚持恪守总会宗旨，积极倡导慈善意识，努力开拓慈善工作的服务领域，广泛动员社会力量，多方筹措慈善资金，配合政府有关部门在紧急救援、扶贫济困、安老助孤、医疗救助、助学支教等方面做了大量工作，取得了显著成绩。
　　 近几年来，中华慈善总会特别注意发挥其本身所特有的涵盖面较为宽泛的特点，开展了救灾、扶贫、安老、助孤、支教、助学、扶残、助医等八大方面几十个慈善项目，逐步形成了遍布全国、规模巨大的慈善援助体系。截止目前，中华慈善总会直接募集慈善款物共折合人民币 40 多亿元，数以千万计的困难群众得到了不同形式的救助。

　　中华慈善总会实行严格的财务制度和审计制度，聘请了国际知名的毕马威国际会计师事务所进行年度财务审计，重大募捐活动接受国家审计署的审计，并随时接受社会监督。中华慈善总会始终坚持公开、公正、依法、自律的财务理念，社会公信力稳步提高。
　　 中华慈善总会不断加强对外联络工作，与港澳台和海外的许多公益慈善机构建立了良好的合作关系，并共同实施了多项合作项目，得到了国际慈善组织的普遍认同。 1998 年，慈善总会加入了国际联合劝募协会，成为该组织中唯一的中国会员。可以说，中华慈善总会作为中国最大、最有影响力的慈善组织之一，已经开始成为联系海内外华人和国际友人，共同促进中国慈善事业稳步发展的一条重要枢纽。

　　China Charity Federation (CCF) is a nationwide non-governmental charity organization. It was established in 1994, with approval from the Chinese government, and was legally registered as an independent entity. Its members, all of whom work on a voluntary basis, include private citizens, businesses, and social institutions interested in charitable causes. The goals of CCF are to uphold the spirit of humanitarianism and the Chinese tradition of helping people in poverty or with special needs to be able to help themselves. There are over 260 affiliates of CCF throughout China. The current president of CCF is Mr. Fan Baojun, member of the Standing Committee CPPCC, former Deputy Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs.

　　Since the founding of CCF, it has maintained its goals of broadening charitable work in various fields and increasing public awareness of the great difficulties faced by many members of our society. It has given wholehearted loyalty to China's charitable concerns. CCF's many humanitarian acts have drawn extensive social attention and have won the trust and support of the government.

　　In the last several years, CCF has been actively involved in humanitarian activities that have brought nationwide attention. Our programs include the following eight areas, which have resulted in great social impact: disaster relief, poverty relief, care of seniors and orphans, education, medical assistance and helping the disabled. By now, through extensive fundraising activities, CCF has raised more than 4 billion Yuan (about 540 million dollars), both in cash and in kind. Currently, charitable relief programs are being carried out in more areas than ever before.

　　China Charity Federation adopts a strict auditing and financial system, and employs the world-famous accounting firm KPMG for the annual financial audit. All the major fund-raising activities accept the National Audit Office`s audit and social supervision at any time. China Charity Federation always adhere to a financial belief that is open, fair and self-control, and with all the efforts, its social credibility is improving steadily.

　　CCF seeks opportunities to work together with other organizations. At present, CCF has established relations with about 200 charity organizations throughout 46 countries, cooperating on many programs. CCF became the only Chinese member of United Way International (UWI) in 1998. Being one of the biggest and most influential charitable organziations in China, CCF has become a bridge linking foreign friends and overseas Chinese with the Chinese people.
